OCGS Multi Artist Traveling Raffle Gourd

The OCGS Traveling Raffle gourd began with our gourd being picked out at the Welburn Fall 1/2 price sale in August 2006. Member's Russ Conley and Carole Duncan picked out the gourd. Carole designed and did all the wood burned panels for the participants. The individual's panels were picked and assigned by Carole and Russ with one assigning numbers to each panel and the other giving names to go with the panel. After a vote by our members it was decided to open the gourd up to give more possible design opportunities.  Bill Duncan did the honors of cutting her open and cleaning her up and Booker Preston do some of his carving magic on the top and added small magnets to hold the lid securely to the gourd. Great work!!

Yippee the adventure begins!! We will be traveling from one event to another where we will have tickets available for purchase. The winning ticket will be drawn in late 2008 after our last event. Check our calendar for events near you! Please check back monthly as we update our calendar throughout the year.

The Gourd is approximately 14" wide x 13' tall

Email Mary Bliss at isbliss@yahoo.com for details.

The winner does not have to be present to win.

Pictures for each of the seventeen artists panels are below.

When the gourd is not traveling Carole Duncan will be working on completing the layout design and getting it ready for the winner.

Admirer's Comments

Hi,
I just looked at your 2007 traveling gourd. Wow, is it something, I can't wait to see what all the other fantastic circles are going to be!

I am a California Gourd Society Member, but I live in KY. Can you tell me how I can purchase a few raffle tickets? I would love to win that stunning gourd and show it off to all my gourd friends around here!

I think the design is truly gorgeous and very unique! So far all the artists that have contributed have done an excellent job, each one special and wonderful in their own right. It is truly something to be proud of. I think the traveling gourd is such a great idea, talk about teamwork! I know it takes a great deal of effort and planning, you all should be very proud!

Sincerely,
Vicki
